What is TaeKwonDo?
Taekwondo has been in development during the 5000 year long history of Korea, being called by several different names over the course of time. Taekwondo today shares many similarities with different martial arts styles of countries surrounding Korea, like Japan and China. Techniques and tactics were assimilated from these countries for increased effectiveness in combat. Taekwondo is very physically dynamic with active movements that include a vast understanding of kicking and footwork for distance control. By controlling the distance in a confrontation, the martialist is able to keep themselves safe in order to win/survive in a physical altercation. The art of Taekwondo also incorporates other strikes, blocks, throws, and joint locks preparing the body and mind with strategies to adapt and overcome the opponent. Taekwondo is the unity of mind, body, spirit, and life. It is the study of the body through discipline of the mind. We offer a variety of TaeKwonDo classes, which are listed below. |
TaeKwonDo Classes
Parent-Tot Classes
This class is designed for parents to attend with their 3-4 year old child. Parents participate in an interactive class with their child. Children at this age are very interested in how Mom & Dad view them and therefore are very excited to participate in the activities with them. Children learn basic beginning Taekwondo skills, how to participate in a group and follow directions.

Kindergarten Classes (5-6 year old)
The young children in this class are ready to participate in a basic fun skills class "on my own". We start with 10 to 15 minutes of traditional disciplined martial art skills followed by fun coordination based games, which allows the child to practice and build on their Taekwondo techniques. It is very important that the children have fun because they learn the most through games and positive reinforcement. We also review important life lessons, such as manners and helping others, during these classes.

Family Classes
Parents are offered the opportunity to share the journey of Martial Arts training with their children. Children ages 6 years and up may attend with their parents; in addition, this class is an excellent option for siblings of various ages. Because our facility has three rooms, we are able to break up classes by belt rank and/or age as appropriate and needed.

My kids and I have been students at USFMA since March of 2013 and the only regret I have is that we didn't start sooner. This is a top notch school that not only teaches martial arts but also teaches valuable life skills such as courtesy, respect, discipline and honor. The Fuhrmann family welcomes you into their family when you join their school. The instructors are wonderful and the other students are great too! If you are looking for a school that will not only teach you martial arts but help you become a better human being then this is the place for you!
